Outdoor Courts Status Update
Posted on Nov 7th, 2023
Outdoor Courts Status Update
Reservation Application for Court 1 Unavailable.
Nov. 07, 2023.

Due to localized disrepair of the courts surface, the perimeter area between tennis court 1 and the west/KoKo Crater fence has been closed.

Tennis play on court one will be unavailable until repairs are completed. It is anticipated that the court surface maintenance refurbishment project  will be executed in early 2024. Also, interim patch repair is being evaluated at this time.

Pickleball play on court 1 utilizes painter’s tape to denote court lines.  These taped lines will be located a safe distance from the area in disrepair.

Pickleball players will work to accommodate the needs of the tennis players on court 2.

Park Strip Committee (PSC) Park Strip Plan

Queen’s Gate Community Association
Park Strip Committee (PSC)
Park Strip Plan

Hello Queen’s Gate Homeowners,

The Queen’s Gate Community Association Board of Directors has reviewed and unanimously approved the Park Strip Committee’s recommended approach regarding our park strip trees.

The QGCA park strips are located between QGCA sidewalks and QGCA streets including Kalohelani Place and Makaaoa Place.  Maintenance of the aging milo park strip trees has been a concern of Association members for some time and the Park Strip Committee was formed by the BoD to research options and develop a plan.

A Homeowners Communication Meeting to discuss the plan is scheduled for Thursday, 17 August 2023 at 6:00pm in the clubhouse.

Arborist services at Tree Solutions Hawaii were retained to assess the existing trees and to provide recommendations for species and installation approach of replacement trees.  Their report can be viewed by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page.

We received good news: the expected remaining lifetime of the vast majority of existing milo trees is beyond ten years.  This means most of these trees do not need to be replaced in the near future and the cost of replacement can be deferred.

The Committee recommended that the original architect’s plan for tree-lined streets be continued.  Gaps in the park strips where original trees were removed, but not replaced, will be filled with new trees.

New tree plantings will include root barrier installations.  New trees will be located so as to minimize irrigation damage and repair efforts.
